A group of mountain bikers in Kaohsiung have become regulars on a
hiking route near Shou Shan Zoo. They brave tough conditions for the thrill of
the ride.
Cyclists head to this dark mountain area to ride from Shou Shan
Zoo toward Chaishan. The trail starts flat. Bikers talk and laugh as they ride,
but soon they reach a section with a 45-degree decline.
The road also has many stairs. One mistake can lead to an
accident.

You need experience here in the daytime, so you’re at least
familiar with the trail. Then you know how to ride it and avoid some of the
dangerous sections.
The cyclists come out at night to avoid hikers. The ride takes
about an hour.

At night the air is better. The lights are pretty and the
atmosphere is nice. It’s great to see Kaohsiung lit up.
Besides the mountain setting and beautiful scenery there is
coffee and food. This is what cyclists love.
Questions:
1.What do you think of these mountain
bikers?
2.Why do they choose to go cycling at
night?
3.Do you go cycling? If yes, how often?
4.Have you ever ridden racing bikes,
mountain bikes, bmx bikes, or other recreational bikes?
